The Main Event is an Outside Catering company based in north Norfolk and run by Lynn and Nick Handley.
We have gathered extensive catering experience since buying our first business, the famous Lifeboat Inn on the Norfolk coast in Thornham in 1979. Over the years we successfully added Sculthorpe Mill near Fakenham, The Old Bank Bistro in Snettisham, The Anchor Inn, Morston and The Queen's Head Hotel at Nassington to our portfolio. Whilst we always combined event catering with the various businesses we decided to concentrate purely on outside catering from 2010.
Along the way we brought up 3 children, Ben, Kate and Sam, who inherited a similar passion for food.
Ben and his wife, Sarah, own The Duck Inn at Stanhoe and The Bell at Hunworth - both have achieved prestigious awards and their popularity grows year on year. Whilst Ben is the "Chief" in the kitchen, responsible for outstanding menu content and a consistency of quality on the plate, Sarah's sense of flair and eye for colour is evident in the welcoming, stylish surroundings they provide at Duck and Bell.
Sam is overall general manager between the two pubs, ensuring front of house service matches the excellent standard of food coming from the kitchens.
Kate works as Head Chef and General Manager at the Main Event, although she frequently can be found helping out at either of Ben's pubs! Her expertise in putting together flavoursome and exciting menus for large events is vital to the success of the Main Event - whilst the menu content must appeal to a large number of guests we also need to ensure it can be served quickly and efficiently so food arrives to each guest piping hot and attractively presented.

We recognise that a significant proportion of your Wedding Budget will be spent on food and that, as the client, you need to be confident in your choice of catering supplier. With that in mind we will happily meet with you to discuss menus, itinerary and budget so we get an overall sense of how you see your day unfold. From these details we build a first draft proposal which includes an estimate of costs to provide the total package of menu and service. We would also be delighted to offer advice regarding the many florists, musicians, marquee suppliers and cake-makers we have worked with and feel happy to recommend.
Corporate catering is essential to our business. We provide simple, economic solutions to food service to a range of business customers as well as the capacity to produce catering for large scale events, awards ceremonies, charity balls and dances.
The Main Event has full Public Liability and Employer's Liability Insurance and are proud to hold a 5 Star Food Hygiene Rating with the Environmental Health Department of King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council.
